Who Is at Fault for Poor Employee Engagement?

It is easy to play the blame game when a company finds itself with disengaged, dissatisfied employees.

Leadership wants to point the finger at the workforce; and employees want to place the blame on management. But the question needs to be answered and fast…who is really at fault for employee dissatisfaction?

  • Employees: If you as an employee find yourself lacking motivation and losing interest in your work and in your job results, it is up to you to take steps necessary to improve the situation. Figure out what is missing and speak up. There is nothing to be gained by plodding along silently and unhappily.
  • Management: By the same token, if you as a leader find that your employees are producing less and leaving at higher rates, it is your responsibility to discover and fix what’s wrong.

Repairing employee dissatisfaction is a challenge to be shared by both the workers and the leadership.
