Sometimes
determining how to engage today’s employees seems like solving an unsolvable
riddle. Beyond fair pay and a decent
work environment, what do your employees really want in their jobs?
Employee engagement training experts say that they want to know that they are making adifference…not only in the company but in the broader sense. They want to know
that what they do matters and that their organization has a positive impact in
the world at large.
To
keep today’s employees engaged, be sure that you:
- Articulate purpose. What is your organization trying to accomplish? And how will the individual employee’s job contribute to that end?
- Communicate and demonstrate genuine commitment to the company goal. Empty words will sabotage your mission. As a leader, you must “walk the talk” to be believed.
- Design a roadmap for growth and continued professional development. Every job, no matter how menial, should have the potential for development and advancement. Engaged employees feel that there is a future for them.
